Amy didn't actually expect to make it before dark. The camper that had taken them so far already had got them where they wanted. With more than a couple of interesting stops on the way. None of them Amy would want to change or do anything different with.
Sunset was giving way to a warm night, the little campfire made what could have been so very different for Amy a better experience. There was even the sound of music, from where Amy wasn't quite sure. She lay back leaning against Sam.
"Do you think the people that live here watch the sunset every night they can?"
"I would. This place seems so far away from everything else. If I lived here, i would enjoy this, every night." He grinned over at her. It had been months since their last road trip, and with everything that had happened, he had really needed to get out and go.
A lot.
Now, at the campsite, the remnants of a picnic dinner before them, as the sun sank? He only knew he was glad he was with her.
"Amy? Thank you for coming along. I needed this, and you." His voice was soft, and honest.
"We could." Amy reached to grab another grape, then changed her mind picking up the last blueberries and a strawberry.
"Hmm?" She turned her head to look at him, fruit forgotten. "You don't..." It was pointless saying that he didn't need to say thank you. "Any time, any where. We can go. I'll have our bags packed and waiting. I like getting you all to myself." She leaned back against him. Holding a blueberry between her fingers. "Want the last one?"
She was sure she'd met him in a bar before. Or there had been a bar. There was definitely alcohol the first time she'd met him. Right, that had to be a bar. Or a party. The next thing that Amy had to remember was if she'd spoke to him what name she'd called herself. Though looking over at him, she wasn't sure that was a big problem.
